Father, thank You for another glorious day and the snow we got today. I ask that You will bless this time with You and help us to strive to do more for You each day. In Jesus Name, Amen!! Philippians 1: 7-8 7 just as it is right for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart, inasmuch as both in my chains and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel, you all are partakers with me of grace. 8 For God is my witness, how greatly I long for you all with the affection of Jesus Christ. Fact 1: Just as it is right for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart, in as much as both in my chains and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel, you all are partakers with me of grace. Meaning 1: defense and confirmation are legal terms, they are what Paul uses to protect the gospel from those who would attack it and sharing the gospel with those who would accept it. We have to be on the defense of the gospel and confirm what the Bible says about it. And those of us who believe are partakers in the grace of God. Question 1: Do I defend the gospel when others are putting it down? Am I sharing in the defense of the gospel as right and true? Fact 2: For God is my witness, how greatly I long for you all with the affection of Jesus Christ. Meaning 2: He wants to be with all the believers that he writes to, he loves them with a love from Jesus and desires to see them all in his life. Paul loved people with all his heart. Question 2: Do I love others and want to spend time with them? Am I one that shares the affection of Jesus with others? Take Away!! I need to be sure that I know the Bible well enough to defend it when others come against it and to confirm what it says when others do not believe or understand what He is saying. Father, thank You for a good study on the protection of the gospel. It is a blessing when we stand for You and hold on. Give us a great day today and keep us ready to defend Your gospel. In Jesus Name, Amen!!
Father, thank You for a blessed day and the Thanksgiving holiday coming up soon, we are excited to hear from You today and feel Your presence as we study Your word. In Jesus Name, Amen!! Thankfulness and Prayer Philippians 1:3-6 3 I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, 4 always in every prayer of mine making request for you all with joy, 5 for your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now, 6 being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ; Fact 1: I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, Meaning 1: Whenever someone comes to mind during our day or night, we need to pray for them, maybe call or write, there is a reason that God brings people to mind and we will feel what we are supposed to do. Always take time to remember when God has you think of someone in your life. Question 1: Do I pray for every person that God brings to mind? Am I open to His leading about getting ahold of that person? Fact 2: always in every prayer of mine making request for you all with joy. Meaning 2: We should pray for others as a joyful opportunity. What is better than prayer. We say sometimes that prayer is the least we can do, but prayer is the BEST that you can do.. It is above all things. Question 2: Do I spend time in prayer for those that I love? To those who I spend time with and get requests from? Fact 3: for your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now; Meaning 3: We want our people to know that Jesus died to save them and all our sins are washed away, we want them to fellowship in the gospel, take it for heart and live it out. Question 3: Do I live out the gospel so that others know there is a difference in me? What can I do that will show more that God is in control of my life and breath? Fact 4: being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ. Meaning 4: This is a verse that people quote a lot and try to live by knowing that one day we will have perfect bodies, spirits and will stand before God. When we get to heaven the life and who we are have bee completed and He will not leave us while we are getting ready for eternity or when we get to eternity. Question 4: Do I know in my heart and soul that we will be with Him one day soon? Is life telling us that we are going to one day stand and know God loves us so much? Take Away!! I need to spend more time in prayer for those that I think about when God brings them to mind and pray for their relationship with God and that they would also live for You in all things. Father, Thank You for a great reminder that we are in need of praying for others and that You will work everything out for our good, even when we make mistakes. You forgive and holds onto us. In Jesus Name, Amen!!
Father, thank You for another day to study Your Word and come closer to You. We praise You daily for the word You sent to us and the application to our lives even today. In Jesus Name, Amen!! Greeting Philippians 1:1-2 Paul and Timothy, bondservants of Jesus Christ, To all the saints in Christ Jesus who are in Philippi, with the bishops and deacons: 2 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Fact 1: Paul and Timothy, bondservants of Jesus Christ, Meaning 1: To be bondservants of Jesus Christ, are to be almost slaves to God, but with benefits. We are bound to God to do His work when we come to know Him as Lord and Savior. Question 1: Do I do the work of the Lord in fullness being able to be called a bondservant of Jesus? What does it mean to me to be a bondservant for Jesus? Fact 2: To all the saints in Christ Jesus who are in Philippi, with the bishops and deacons; Meaning 2: He was not only writing to the bishops and deacons of the church but to the whole church of saints. That is what they called the Christians in that time. We should be teaching and witnessing to all people. Question 2: Do I share God with anyone I meet in an attempt to reach all the saints in the world? Am I someone who others see as saved and loving? Fact 3: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Meaning 3: Grace was the gentile greeting and peace the Jewish greeting, so he was welcoming both gentiles and Jewish to the word of God. He wanted them both to come and worship and learn. Question 3: Do I reach out to all? Am I picky about what people I reach or am I reaching everyone? Take Away!! I need to be a bondservant of Jesus working to reach everyone that I can for the Lord. I must set out on an adventure to reach all those I can with the gospel. Father, thank You for another good study. It is amazing how much we can get out of a greeting and welcome to all that need to hear these words. Help us to be fruitful and gather Your people together in You. In Jesus Name, Amen!!
Father, we want to Thank You for all that You do for us and for the beautiful seasons You created. Give us a good study today and watch over us this weekend. In Jesus Name Amen!! Bring Back the Erring One James 5:19-20 19 Brethren, if anyone among you wanders from the truth, and someone turns him back, 20 let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins. Fact 1: Brethren, if anyone among you wanders from the truth, Meaning 1: We will all seem to wander at times, that is part of being human, but we need to work at walking in the way God desires. Question 1: What normally brings me back when I start to wander? What does God do to remind us we belong to Him and He loves us? Fact 2: and someone turns him back, Meaning 2: We have an obligation to help others see that the path they are on is going the wrong way. We need to do this in a loving way and not a condemning or judging. Question 2: Do I take is seriously that God wants me to help them in Love? Am I a judgmental person when it comes to life? Fact 3: let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins. Meaning 3: When we do help someone see the path that they are on is not a good one and help them get back on track with their lives, we are helping keep them from sinning even more. Question 3: Do I know how to help others without doing more damage than good? Do I rely on God for the strength and attitude while sharing with them? Take Away!! I need to help those that I chat with to see what their lives bring and keep them close to you in their walks. Father, thank You for a good reminder that it takes a nonjudgmental attitude to help people see their error and turn back to You. Give us a good weekend, In Jesus Name, Amen!!
Father, please give us some good lessons today and help us to learn what it is that You have for us. We are thankful that You love us enough to share Your word and love with us, In Jesus Name, amen!! Meeting Specific Needs Pt 2 James 5:16-18 16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. 17 Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months. 18 And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit. Fact 1: Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another that you may be healed. Meaning 1: When we are sharing our problems with others they can hold us accountable and help us to let go of the things that are causing our lives harm and it is always better to share, it helps you get past it and be healed. Question 1: What do I have that needs to be confessed before others so that I am not burdened by sin? Do I have someone that I can share this with and trust to help and not hurt? Fact 2: The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. Meaning 2: When we have a fervent prayer life then we can change much. It is an open door to the Lord. This does not mean a smooth or forceful prayers, it means often and from the heart. We can stutter through a prayer and be answered above the well spoken fake ones. Question 2: Do I come to God every day? Do I ask for the salvation of others? Am I confessing my many faults to Him? What do I need to do to be a fervent prayer warrior? Fact 3: Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain: and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit. Meaning 3: Elijah focused on God and the prayers to Him. He was totally devoted to God and walked with Him. He needed no rain and God answered his prayers. When we are so close to God He hears and answers when we are praying to Him. Question 3: Do I have the relationship with God that He would answer me when I ask? Do I ask Him in faith that He will answer me? Take Away!! I need to make sure that my relationship is strong in God and that I lean on and believe in Him with every fiber of my being. I need to confess to others what I am going through and get encouragement to continue holding onto the Lord daily. Father, thank You for reminding us of the relationship that we need to have with You and others. One that is all based around You. In Jesus Name, Amen!!
Father, thank You for a new day and another chance to talk to others about You. I ask that our study goes well and that we will stand for You in this day. In Jesus Name, Amen!! Meeting Specific Needs Pt 1 James 5:13-15 13 Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms. 14 Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven Fact 1: Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Meaning 1: When we are suffering God understands and He is there to help us through this tough time, He wants us to recognize that we need to call on Him when we are suffering. He is waiting to help us through all we have to do is ask Him. Question 1: Is my first thought when things go wrong to call upon the Lord? Do I try to fix things before crying out to God? Fact 2: Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms. Meaning 2: When we are happy and cheerful we have a feeling of greatness, we should allow that feeling to pour out of us in songs and praises to God. He loves to hear from us for the good things too. Question 1: Do I thank God when I am happy and praise Him during the blessings that He give me? Fact 3: Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. Meaning 3: The Lord wants us to call upon Him, but He also wants us to call upon our church family when we are sick or even just down. It is good to have a church that anoints you when praying as that is a sign they used in the Bible. It just shows that we are being prayed for. Question 3: Do I call my church family when I am sick and allow them to pray for me? Do I believe in my heart that they can pray and receive healing? Fact 4: And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. Meaning 4: This one is hard because we do not often have the faith that it takes in God to bring about healing. God says in His word that we only need faith as a grain of mustard seed. It is hard to have even that amount of faith. Question 4: Do I show good faith in God when I pray? Am I believing that God is answering even when I am praying? Fact 5: And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. Meaning 5: When we pray and confess then we are forgiven. When we are healed by a faithful prayer then we are forgiven. Question 5: Do I ask God for forgiveness when I pray? Do I believe that He will heal me of the sickness of sin in my life too? Take Away!! I need to pray more for the things in my life. I also need to pray more for the others around me. We all need prayer for good and bad things, just being lifted up to God is a blessing. Father, thank You for a good study and remembering to pray and praise You each day. You have done so much in our lives that we need to acknowledge You daily and speak to You always. In Jesus Name, Amen!!
Father, thank You for a beautiful sunny day and some light for our activities. It is just coming out but looks to be a great day. Give us a good lesson and keep us walking in Your word. In Jesus Name, Amen!! Be Patient and Persevering Pt 3 James 5:12 12 But above all, my brethren, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or with any other oath. But let your “Yes” be “Yes,” and your “No,” “No,” lest you fall into judgment. Fact 1: But above all, my brethren, do not swear, either by heaven of by earth or with any other oath. Meaning 1: Our integrity should be strong enough that we need not swear by anything, Oaths were taken for granted and used so much in James times that they were more for profanity. Question 1: Do I ever have an issue with swearing or taking an oath that I should not take? Am I standing in the way of the Lord so that I do not sin in my words? Fact 2: But let your "Yes" be "Yes," and your "No," "No," lest you fall into judgement. Meaning 2: Again our yes's and no's should be a meaning full word. People should know that they can trust what you say and live. Others should not have to look at You and wonder if they can trust you. Question 2: Do I work at keeping my words true to my actions so that I not only say the right words, but live them too? Take Away!! I need to make sure that I am always standing on God's word and keeping the line that He has set forth so that others do not have to wonder how trustworthy we are. Father, thank You for a great lesson and reminding us not to have to make oaths or swear that things will be right. Help us to live for You and in You so that others know they can trust us and lean on us when needed. In Jesus Name, Amen!!
Father, thank You that summer is over and winter is not quite here. We sure love this time of year. Please help us have a good study today and a great time learning more about Your will for us. In Jesus Name, Amen!! Be Patient and Persevering Pt 2 James 5:9-11 9 Do not grumble against one another, brethren, lest you be condemned. Behold, the Judge is standing at the door! 10 My brethren, take the prophets, who spoke in the name of the Lord, as an example of suffering and patience. 11 Indeed we count them blessed who endure. You have heard of the perseverance of Job and seen the end intended by the Lord—that the Lord is very compassionate and merciful. Fact 1: Do not grumble against one another, brethren, lest you be condemned. Behold, the Judge is standing at the door! Meaning 1: We are not to judge others or complain about them, God is the Judge of people and we are supposed to allow Him to work and we can pray for them. We do not want to be condemned and need to do what God says is right. Questions 1: Do I spend time grumbling about others and trying to be the judge of them? Am I living my life for God and sharing with others that He loves us and will be our Judge with truth? Fact 2: My brethren, take the prophets, who spoke in the name of the Lord as an example of suffering and patience. Meaning 2: The poor prophets that spoke the words from God were not well loved all the time. They suffered and yet, were patient and shared with others what they were told to say by God no matter how it was received. Questions 2: Do I have the strength of character to stand up for what is right in the world and what people are doing around me without trying to judge them? Am I patient and loving while telling them to follow God as He is the Judge that they have to follow? Fact 3: Indeed we count them blessed who endure. Meaning 3: Those prophets were blessed by enduring the fight of the people who did not want to hear what God had to say. Questions 3; Am I willing to stand up to people doing wrong in their lives and endure the persecutions they might give if they do not want to hear what God's word has to say? Fact 4: You have heard of the perseverance of Job and seen the intended by the Lord - that the Lord is very compassionate and merciful. Meaning 4: We learned from Job, he was in a bad way and did not know why he was, but he kept his faith through the whole ordeal even though others told him to curse God and die. He knew that God had a reason for all that He was allowing in his life. He knew if he stood fast it would be ok. Questions 4: Do I have the stability in God to go through something like that and then stand for God anyway? Would I have cursed God to die or would I stand and fight? Take Away!! I need to be willing to suffer my life for God and not care what the world can do to me because it is all on God as long as I am following His will for my life. I have to be strong and keep my faith that all will work out in the end. Father, thank You for a great study and reminder that we can get through a lot and stand strong in You in life. That we not judge others ways and just make sure that ours stands for You and they will have to answer to You not us. Yet, we must be a light so they can see how to live. In Jesus Name, Amen!!
