Matthew 5:16"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven."
We have had several girls since then, they have either left the program or graduated. Dayana was the sweetest little thing, she was a lot of fun. Mama answered each letter when it came. Not having a lot of idea about writing. She did not know you could write all the time. DUH!! Kimberly was also a sweetie, she wrote pretty good letters for such a little wee girl. By this time she was writing the girls every month at least and sending all kinds of things. Back then you could send stuff. Now only bookmarks and popup cards. This was the first of many girls that would become part of our family. Jennifer is now growing up and close to graduating and she is an amazing young lady who calls mama her mama too. She loved to write and God told her that she needed to write to more girls. He kept telling her that and she now has over 200 girls she writes to once a month and sends a devotion to as well. God started her out with 10 girls, and she got there and felt that God said to go to 25. Then on and on until she reached over 200 girls. She is not stopping now. But she has slowed down. Being home on disability all the time she has all the time in the world to write to her girls and love them. She has girls in every country that Compassion works in. God is amazing and she has learned each one of her girls and can name them by photo and tell where most of them are from. Yaritza was an answer to prayer, Mama wanted a third girl and had just not found the right girl when her friend posted that Yufie's sister needed a sponsor. Mama went straight to her and sponsored her. She is mama's little answer to prayer. The letters that you get from your children is a blessing and sending them love in the letters you write to them. If you do not want to write to your child you support you can get them a correspondence. It is proven that kids do much better in the program when they have letters from their sponsors. God can use us all. You can write to children any age from any of the 25 countries Compassion works in. You just have to call Compassion and ask to join. There is then a special facebook group that you can join where you can talk about your letters and children it is a fun safe place to come and share. Thank You for spending time with me for the last few weeks as we shared the Compassion work. We are excited to share our love.

Compassion does all their work through partnerships with thousands of local churches in 25 countries around the world. In some countries, such as Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, National Office partners work with the developmental agency of the church. We partner with churches and denominations in Africa, Asia, Central American and the Caribbean, and South America to provide children with the opportunity to rise above their circumstances and become all God has created them to be.
These frontline church partners tailor the holistic child development model to the contextualized needs of the children in their communities, to best deliver the whole-life care that the children they serve most need.

We are going to miss each other but at least we can email and talk a lot. Happy Easter!!Virginia and Lottie found the Easter basket with the candy first. They had not asked for anything for Easter. They just wanted to get the candy that always comes to our house. There was a lamb for Natalya telling that she gets to get two more sheep in a few days. And Talaith got dog print scrubs and bag to wear when she helps Aunt Joni in the vet office.
Joyful in hope. Patient in affliction. Faithful in prayer. This scripture Romans 12:12 rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer; could not be more perfect for this season of life. It calls us to be joyful in the hope we have for the future, patient in the affliction that our world faces, and faithful in prayer to our Lord. Now more than ever we must live out those commands. So in preparation for the upcoming Compassion Sunday would you join us in prayer? a call to HOPE!! Prayers for Children: Ask God to provide food for hungry children, medical care for those facing illness, hygiene materials for the ones without and spiritual care for kids who desperately need it. Pray that many children living in poverty will receive sponsors this Compassion Sunday and that those new relationships would bring so much joy and hope. Prayers for Others:
Pray for the restoration of hope and health in our families, churches and communities. Ask God to work in and through the other people who are speaking up on behalf of children this Compassion Sunday and that thousands of people would respond by sponsoring a child. |
