Indonesia's Devastating Floods Kill |
The rain starting on New Years Eve caused wide spread flooding in Indonesia. That is a frightening way to start your new year. How are our Compassion kids doing? | 66 dead and some still missing. Then the rescue operations are hindered from mud slides that bury area they are searching. More people die in this first month of the new year. |
Taal Volcano Eruption
In Philippines!!
We have had the volcano erupt in the Philippines, not sure yet how this is affecting our Compassion kids there, it is hard to watch things like this happen, especially when we have children in that area too. | Mama remembers when St. Helen's blew when she was a kid. We had trace amounts of ash in the other side of the state. This was one of the smallest volcano's to erupt and still devastated some of the islands, but that ash is everywhere, nasty horrible stuff. |

My special photo by the life saver, we have cruised the westerdam and now oosterdam, we are just waiting to go on the zuiderdam. It has the polar bears on the swimming pool. Mama loves polar bears. After dinner we had a cute little elephant on one of the beds. He was cute. | I love watching the water. Sarafina decided to take a ride, he was a friendly elephant and allowed her to have some time on him. We loved the towel animals that they did this trip. |
THE END!!
Some more of the shore .. .. .. The cliffs had a different sun on them so we could get photos of some of the rocks that we did not get a good photo of earlier. We had already been out here, so that part was not exciting. We have seen big ones in Oregon at the docks, but these guys were twice that size and so incredible to watch. | There were tons more sea lions on the rocks when we went out this time, they were so big and funny to listen to. They are massive creatures. |
Mama and I enjoying sitting on the back of the ship looking for more whales. We were giving it the best to enjoy. | Our 'captian' who had banana's just our size, we were so excited to have little ones. We did get to see whales tails while we were out and some babies, but none came up to visit. The whole reason that we wanted to come to Cabo was the pirate ship, and they made us pay for a yacht, We were so sad, and mama got sick at her tummy on the little ship. |
We saw this one and could not wait, there were two different ones and we were so excited that either of them should be the one that we are going to ride. Oh the excitement. Here we are, Josefina, Sarafina, and me Marsali. We were standing in more sticky cactus. I had about had it with cacti photos, they make me nervous. | Today we got to Cabo San Lucas!! We were so excited, we booked an excursion on a real pirate ship that was confiscated years ago and used by the Mexican police, now was a tourist ship. It looked amazing on the brochure, and we were totally taken by the idea of being on a real pirate ship. We were having fun looking around the beach area for awhile. We were waiting for a boat to come back that we could take out around the cliffs and see the sites around. It went out every half hour or so and would also stop at lover's beach. We were not getting off. |
Below is some of the cliff's around Cabo .. .. ..
Pelicans standing on rocks almost gone from high tide. LOL | The formations in the rocks were neat to look at up close, but there was pelican droppings over all the rocks closest to the water. LOL!! I did not want to climb rocks for sure. That would be a bit nasty. There were just so many pelicans. A close up pelican, they are a neat looking bird for not seeing a real one before. Or maybe once in the Caribbean. |
The ocean area reminded me of our Cannon beach in Oregon, but the water would have been warm if we walked down to it, but we had places to see first since we had had time away. Most of the booths were already coming down for the day. They said this used to be a public pool with the ocean up to it and it was supposed to have been amazing, now the ocean has receded away. We looked up and there we were under a huge house built over the cliff. What if they had an earthshake, down that one would come, there is no way that could be stable is there?? We got home that evening and the sunset was amazing. We would have loved to sit there and watch the whole thing. It was beautiful. Then we had a lobster on our bed. He was so big, and we love the eyes. | After giving Nana and Sarafina an hour or so to rest up we were ready to go again, We took a taxi this time to get back to the ocean so that we were there for some looking, we had wasted time with poor Nana and Sarafina. This is ocean front property on a cliff, they are sandwiched together. Yuck!! It was amazing, the view of the ocean, I love the ocean so much. Mama and I would love to just live out there and be happy on the beach. They said that the people used to cliff dive off this tower, but the water has gone down so far they could not dive anymore. They had been losing water for years. It would have been fun to watch the locals diving from there. Mama found a booth with dresses in my size. It was so cute, and Mama got me one. I love it. It was fun to have another outfit for me, we have never found my size clothes on the trips. It was amazing. |
Nana and Sarafina tried to get by the people but they called her over and got a photo with them. She looked so good in her beautiful flowery top. Sarafina is in the outfit we bought, we all wore ours today. We found a palm tree garden, it was so cute filled with little palm trees just our size. Mama wanted to take them home and plant them in her yard, but they would never grow there, too much cold and snow for the poor palms. Josefina wished that her mama Lysa was with us, we could have had a lot of fun together with us girls. Lysa and Mama are both doll people and love doing things with us. They had a bunch of these ladies around the town as we walked around. The day of the dead is popular they had so many different sizes of these ladies too. Josefina and I had to have our photo taken with the gals. They had the cutest little dragons on the light poles. Those were mama's favorite design in town she loved those little dudes. We want them in our yard somewhere. Some of the buildings reminded me of New Orleans with the balconies and bars all over. They had some interesting buildings, and then some normal ones. Soon we will see one that the ladies got all excited about. LOL!! It would be fun to spend a week here at this little hotel and just wander around the area. There was so much to see. The officer ladies on our group got all excited when we came to an old jail as far as they cold tell .. it looked to be either gutted or being refurbished. They loved looking in and at it. You could see inside where the walls used to be and holding cells where the inmates were kept in, with a big court yard in the middle. It was interesting to see. We made it to the ocean and took these two photos when we heard a yell and everyone came back. Nana had started to step up and ended up falling back landing on the back of her head. It was serious and we worked to find a taxi to take us back to the doctor on the ship. | Next port on the next day Mazatlan!! We have had a blast on this cruise already and are ready to go to the coast and see the beach. It is amazing that we were here, WOW!! Mama and Dawn got a photo with Senior Froggy. Dawn would not pack Josefina so Mama did. LOL!! Josefina and I got our photo near one of the trees at the edge. These little palms were my favorite plant all day. We were so happy to be here in Mexico, it was good when you got into the real town and out of the tourist area. Sarafina found one of amazing color. We had never seen a plant with those colors. She was wanting to add it to our take home plants. LOL!! The church was huge, we did go in, but did not stay long. It was amazing to go through the workmanship that they put into these old churches. The inside was amazing, We could not fathom the workmanship inside it was shockingly beautiful. Streets were so cute and fixed up for tourists. we wanted to just sit and drink something, but there was so much to see before the ship leaves. These flowers look like some old man with her hair sticking out of his ears. The ladies had to look in every bar windows all around it. They were having fun talking about old jails. Nana had a HUGE baseball size lump on her head that we had to keep an ice pack on. They told her that she was really lucky it was coming out not going to the inside, she was free to go and have fun as long as she was not dizzy. Sarafina was in the bag with Nana and bumped her head too, so the ladies made her a bandage like Nana's to keep on her head. |
They had fresh water, the color of that fresh water was awful. It is what they wash with and cook with. I feel so sad that there are people who do not have clean water. Our rivers in Oregon are so clear and beautiful. They had these little trees around and fenced in. It was funny to see little palm tree gardens. If people get too close they puff up their head and push their little tuff out under the head. They were the neatest iguanas. Then the beautiful pink ones hanging over top of me. This place was covered from palms to flowers. We loved taking photos of them. There were some guys sitting along the way, they were waiting for some women to come along and love them. They have been around a while. | Back again, more of Puerto Vallarta we had so much fun there except for the adults sending their kids to beg from us to buy their things. You should have seen how horrible it was. Never like that in the Caribbean side of Mexico or islands. The trees were amazing. I wanted to climb them so bad. It would have been fun to make an afternoon sitting in the trees reading. It was so hot it would be nice to sit down in the fountains around there, but we did not think they would like that too much. The wild life was so awesome, these dudes are all around there and are so funny to watch. The little flowers were so beautiful, They had all colors of them. We had never seen them so colorful before. I used to know what they were but do not anymore. We love the way they made this plant grow, it just looked neat. the patience taken to weave it. These were all over the island. Before we left we saw the pirate ship all lit up and beautiful. We could not wait for Cabo San Lucas when we get to take a pirate ship ride to look for whales. An old 80 year old pirate ship that had been taken and used as a cargo ship. |
That night was dessert night on the lido deck, they had neat floating flower fountains that looked so neat. They decorate up for the dessert night it is awesome. They sold our size t-shirts on the island, we would have purchased more but we waited to see if other places have them and then did not make it back to that shop so we each got just one. We got home from dinner and there was a swan on the bed. We took a ride around the bed, it was a nice and sweet swan, no attacking us. We have read about those mean fowls. | We had milk chocolate, dark chocolate and white chocolate fountains to dip our veggies and fruits and things in. We are so excited, and sure hoping that more towns have doll t-shirts, we need some that say another town. They have the name on the t-shirt. |
But the people were so pushy and would not leave you alone it ruined shopping. The Caribbean side is so different. Here is the pirate ship, we loved seeing them at all the ports. There were little donkey/horse dudes all over the beach. They were selling them, but no room on the ship to take him home with us. Mama said we could make one really easy from our apple branches and it could be our size. It is 2019 and we still have not made one. LOL!! The pelicans were EVERYWHERE. LOL!! I had never seen a real one and all of a sudden they were all over the place. They were so cute and made the funniest sound. Coconuts in a tree, it looks so funny as we never see the coconut until it is in the brown husk in our stores. We saw some coconuts in the Caribbean but not at home. They did a little presentation hanging upside down and spinning around the pole. It was really kinda neat. The end of the beach, we will now move inland to explore the market place. | Puerto Vallarta, Mexico!! What an amazing place to visit. I want to go back and see the area, but it sure was not as fun to look around for trinkets. We always love to look for trinkets and things for us to give to friends and penpals and just to do for Christmas gifts. Their sea gull type birds are different than ours. They were everywhere just like the sea gulls on the coast in Oregon, they just looked so different. Their sand things were amazing they had a lot of neat artists that did a great job on the sand. This was one that was not in shadow and you could see it in the photo. A boat load of fishermen, that is the cutest bunch of fishermen that I think I have ever seen. When we walked by we almost did not notice the men on the top of the pole. We did not know what was going on or why they were sitting up there. Then they all fell back. I decided to dance with the couple on the platform. I thought I would be a gift he could pull out for her that he was hiding behind his back. LOL!! I need a dress like that. I am Mayan Indian and love to dance too. |
It is Kelsyee here just chatting along, as you see we got our website back. Praise God, it was so depressing to lost three or more years of blogs and information. There is so much to recover if it was gone. So I am going to just chat with us right now. We are listening to a good book online, we love books. |
We hope to build steps for the back yard door we go out most, the cement ones are falling apart so bad. If we can use the pallets and make them it should be quite easy to fashion a set for the back door and side door. We are supposed to get pallets easy this year from KIE all we can get George to pick up for us. |
